The Board of Directors and Volunteers of the Mattapoisett Sailing Association invites you to join them for the William E. Mee Community Sailing Program Launch Party.

Parking Info for the Sold Out MattSail Gala

Gala parking will be at Center School and St. Anthony’s Church with a free SERTA shuttle bus to the event.

There will be no parking on Shipyard Lane. You can park on many other streets throughout Mattapoisett; however, the town is celebrating its 150 Anniversary this week so the town will be busy with a number of activities and parking may be difficult. Parking and the shuttle bus will be shared with the town beach bonfire.

The shuttle bus will run continuously throughout the evening until the end of the Gala.

Please note that the event is sold out and there will be no tickets available at the door.

5. Day sail for 6 aboard the tall ship Fritha – Go back in time and sail a square rigger. Arrive at the vessel at 8:00 a.m. for coffee, morning pastries and orientation from the professional Captain and crew. Leave the dock at 9:00 a.m. for your sailing adventure around Buzzard’s Bay. Lunch is provided and served underway (chef’s choice). Return to the dock at approximately 4:00 p.m. Moored in New Bedford Harbor. Donated by Northeast Maritime Institute, Fairhaven, MA.

6. “Name a Boat” – Inspire our young sailors! This is your chance to name the first boat (Capri 14.2) in the MattSail Fleet after your spouse, child, pet or other inspiration!

MattSail Summer Gala is Sold Out!

We are thrilled to report that we have sold all of the tickets to MattSail’s First Annual Summer Gala. Please note that there will not be any tickets available for this event at the door.

We thank you for your interest and support. If you already have tickets to the event, we look forward to celebrating our first successful sailing season with you on Saturday.

MattSail Summer Gala – “Passing the Helm”

On August 11th, the Mattapoisett Community Sailing Association is having its first annual Summer Gala. The event is themed “Passing the Helm” and will honor three Mattapoisett community leaders and lifelong yachtsman: Fred Brownell, Richard Cederberg and Richard Young. In turn, the honorees will recognize the first graduating class from the William E. Mee Youth Sailing Program. The evening hosts will be Drs. Bert and Laima Zarins.

2007 Summer Youth Program Application is available!

The 2007 William E. Mee Youth Sailing Program Application is now available for download here. You can also pick up copies at Mattapoisett’s town hall and harbormaster’s office.

This summer’s basic Learn-to-Sail will be a pilot program run in partnership with Community Boating Center Inc. of New Bedford. The program will be offered to Mattapoisett, Marion and Rochester youth between the ages of 9 and 13. All sailing will take place in Mattapoisett Harbor from the Town Beach and will be supervised by US Sailing trained instructors. There will be very limited availablity and should more applications be received that slots available, a lottery will be conducted to determine final program participants. The cost of the 2 week program will be $300 per participant and financial aid is available. (Please read the application in full for additional information.)
